UX improvement for one of the most renowned and long-standing theatres in Germany.

OVERVIEW

Act Two: A facelift for Berliner Ensemble

Berliner Ensemble is one of the most renowned and long-standing theatres in Germany. Starting from the 23/24 season on they requested a facelift of their current website. Rather then doing a complete redesign, the focus was on making the website more user-friendly by improving key parts on the website — the homepage, play schedule, navigation and performance detail pages. To have alignment with the client we facilitated a couple of workshops, with the aim to get a clear overview of the UX direction and to pinpoint the key aspects of the design.

UX DIRECTION

Using their existing brand identity I aimed to modernise the overall design, making it more calm and user-friendly despite the amount of various elements. The most significant changes can be found in the finer details — consistent use of typography and text sizes, improved hierarchy, and clustering essential information for a better overview. The end goal of these UX changes was to make it easier for the user to find information about the performances and book tickets for the performances.
